The final failed to live up to expectations. In a one-sided title clash, Chattogram Royals were no match for Rajshahi Warriors, who sealed the championship with a commanding 63-run victory. Led by Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Rajshahi claimed the BPL trophy for the second time.

This is Rajshahi’s second BPL title. The franchise had previously won the championship in the 2019–20 season under the name Rajshahi Royals. In BPL history, Comilla Victorians are the most successful team with four titles, while Dhaka have won three.

On Friday (January 23) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Chattogram captain Mehedi Hasan won the toss and sent Rajshahi in to bat. Rajshahi got off to a flying start as Tanzid Tamim’s aggressive batting combined with Sahibzada Farhan’s composed approach to produce an 83-run opening stand. Farhan was dismissed for 30 off 30 balls.

Tanzid Tamim then added 47 runs with Kane Williamson for the next partnership. Williamson scored 24 runs off 15 balls before being dismissed by Shoriful Islam.

Batting aggressively at one end, Tanzid Tamim brought up his century in just 61 balls. He was eventually dismissed for a brilliant 100 off 62 balls, an innings that included six fours and seven sixes.

Rajshahi posted a strong total of 174 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto contributed 11 runs, while Jimmy Neesham remained unbeaten on 7.

Chasing a target of 175, Chattogram Royals came under pressure early. Two wickets fell with just 18 runs on the board. Opener Naeem Sheikh scored 9 off 10 balls, while Mahmudul Hasan Joy was dismissed for a duck after facing just two deliveries.

Wicketkeeper-batter Jahiduzzaman came in at number four and tried to steady the innings with Mirza Beg. However, their slow scoring rate pushed the match further out of Chattogram’s reach. Jahiduzzaman was dismissed for 11 off 13 balls, while Mirza Beg scored 39 off 36 balls.

Losing wickets at regular intervals, Chattogram were bowled out for 111 in 17.5 overs. For Rajshahi, Binura Fernando was the standout bowler with four wickets. Hasan Murad took three wickets, while Jimmy Neesham claimed two, completing a dominant all-round performance by the champions.
